The questions we are asked most often on the phone, with straight answers. If yours is not here, call (224) 395-3525 and ask — estimates are free and there is no obligation.
Cleaning Frequency and Timing
How often should rugs be professionally cleaned?
It depends entirely on traffic. A rug in a formal room with light use can go 1 to 5 years between professional cleans. A rug you actually walk on every day, or one in a home with pets, is better cleaned yearly. Entryways, hallways, kitchens and bathrooms take the most abuse and are worth doing every 1 to 2 years. If you are unsure, lift a corner and look at the back: grit worked down into the foundation is the sign it is due.
How long does rug cleaning take?
Plan on 4 to 7 business days. The exact time depends on the rug’s construction, the condition it arrives in, and which treatments it needs, since a rug has to dry fully and under control before it comes back. Repairs and restoration take longer. Rush service is available for an additional fee, and we give you an accurate timeline at the initial inspection rather than a guess over the phone. You can see each stage on our rug cleaning process page.
Can you store my rug after cleaning?
Yes. We store cleaned rugs free of charge for up to 30 days. After that there is a storage fee of $1.00 per day, per rug. This is useful if you are mid-renovation, moving, or refinishing floors and do not want the rug back in the house yet.
Pricing and Estimates
How much does rug cleaning cost in Chicago?
Pricing depends on the rug’s size, material and condition, so we do not publish a flat rate. What we do commit to is how pricing works: estimates are free and carry no obligation, you get a quote before any work starts, and there are no hidden fees afterwards. Call (224) 395-3525 or request a quote.
Do you charge extra for stain removal?
In most cases, no. If a stain is stubborn enough to need a separate pre-spray treatment, we will tell you before we do it. We do not add fees after the fact.
Pickup, Delivery and Service Area
Do you offer free pickup and delivery?
Yes. Free pickup and delivery is included with rug cleaning across the Chicago metropolitan area, including Evanston, Oak Park, Naperville and Schaumburg. See our service areas for details.
Will you put my furniture back when you deliver?
We can, as an add-on at additional cost. Otherwise rugs are delivered rolled and placed in a room of your choice.
Pet Stains and Odor
Can you remove pet urine and the smell for good?
Yes, with one exception: hand-tufted, glued-back rugs, which cannot be fully submerged. Urine dries into salts deep in the foundation, which is why surface cleaning at home only helps briefly. We pre-treat with enzymes that break those salts down, then immerse the rug in plenty of water and flush it out, so the odor leaves the rug rather than being masked. On rugs we can submerge, we guarantee odor removal. More detail on our pet urine and accident odor page.
The stain is gone but the colour looks bleached. Can that be fixed?
Often, yes. Urine can strip dye as well as stain it, and that damage stays visible after the rug is clean. Pet stain colour repair re-dyes and blends the affected area to match the surrounding pattern.
Safety and Rug Types
Is your cleaning safe for antique, silk and wool rugs?
Yes. Delicate and high-value rugs are what we specialise in. Every rug is tested for colorfastness before cleaning, and the method is adjusted to the fiber, age and condition rather than run to a fixed recipe. We use safe, green cleaning products, and everything is handled by our own team in our own facility — nothing is shipped out to a third party. See oriental rug cleaning.
Do you guarantee stain removal?
We cannot guarantee every stain, because some permanently alter the fiber or strip its dye. If the fibers are not permanently affected, the chances are good. Time matters more than anything else, so call as soon as you notice a stain rather than after trying several home products.
My rug was in a flood or got soaked. What should I do?
Act quickly. If a rug is not dried properly and completely, the cotton foundation can weaken and rot, and mold and bacteria take hold in the meantime. Do not roll it up wet and do not leave it flat on the floor to dry. Get it professionally cleaned and dried as soon as possible — controlled drying is the part that home methods cannot reproduce.
